Instructions:
Preparation:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Sauté Vegetables:
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Add the chopped green pepper and onion to the skillet.
Sauté the vegetables until they are softened, about 5-7 minutes. Set aside.
Combine Ingredients:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the sautéed peppers and onions with 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce, 2 large eggs, 2 pounds of lean ground beef, 1 cup of Panko bread crumbs, 1 teaspoon of minced garlic, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of onion powder, salt, and pepper to taste.
Mix all the ingredients together until well incorporated.
Layer in Loaf Pan:
Grease the bottom and sides of a loaf pan with cooking spray or olive oil.
Place half of the meat mixture into the loaf pan and press it down evenly.
Layer 4 slices of provolone cheese on top of the meat mixture.
Complete Assembly:
Add the remaining meat mixture on top of the cheese layer, pressing down gently to form a loaf shape.
Baking:
Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven.
Bake the meatloaf for 30 minutes.
Cheese Topping:
Remove the meatloaf from the oven.
Sprinkle the remaining shredded provolone cheese on top of the meatloaf.
Return the meatloaf to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Rest and Slice:
Allow the meatloaf to rest for a few minutes before slicing.
Slice the meatloaf and serve hot.
