  • 8 cups all-purpose flour
  • 250g Butter
  • 3 Eggs (1 for brushing)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) cold water

For the Filling:

  • 350g Ground beef
  • 1 Potato, peeled and diced into small cubes
  • 1 Large Onion, chopped
  • 1 Large Carrot, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup (240ml) Water/beef broth
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Thyme
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 tablespoons Oil

Preparation:

Making the Dough:

  1. In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
  2. Add butter and rub it with the flour until you get a crumbly texture.
  3. Beat 2 eggs and add them to the flour mixture, mix until the dough is formed. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Making the Filling:

  1. In a large pan, heat oil. Add onion and sauté for 5-6 mins.
  2. Add the ground meat and fry for 4-5 mins.
  3. Add the diced carrots, season with salt, pepper, thyme, and flour.

  1. Divide the dough into 8 pieces. Roll out each piece into 1/8-inch thickness.
  2. Cut out round shapes with your desired size.
  3. Place about 1-2 tablespoons of the meat mixture in the center and fold over the dough, using a meat pie cutter or seal the edges with a fork.
  4. Poke the pies with a fork to create steam outlets.
  5. Brush the pies with beaten egg.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden.
