Instructions:
Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Combine initial ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the lean ground beef, minced garlic, and diced onion.
Add bread and liquids: Tear the potato bread into small pieces and add them to the beef mixture. Pour in the milk and Worcestershire sauce.
Season the mixture: Add the chopped fresh sage, salt, ground mustard, and pepper to the bowl.
Incorporate the egg: Crack the large egg into the beef mixture.
Mix well: Use your hands or a spoon to thoroughly mix all the ingredients together until they are well integrated. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the meatloaf tough.
Shape the loaf: Place the beef mixture in an ungreased baking pan. Gently shape it into an 8×4 inch loaf within the pan.
Glaze with ketchup: Spread the ketchup evenly over the top surface of the shaped meatloaf.
Bake: Bake uncovered in the preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes, or until the meat and juices are no longer pink and a meat thermometer inserted into the center of the loaf reads 160°F (71°C). Ensure the center of the loaf is no longer pink.
Rest and serve: Once cooked, let the meatloaf sit in the baking pan for 5 minutes before slicing. Remove the loaf from the pan and cut it into slices to serve. Enjoy this classic and flavorful meatloaf!
