My hubby and I can’t agree on the best way to cook bacon. I think this is crispy but he thinks it’s burnt because of the black parts. Thoughts? (Page 3 ) | November 21, 2025

Tips to Cook Bacon Both Crispy and Delicious

  1. Start Cold: Lay bacon strips in a cold pan and heat slowly. This allows the fat to render evenly.
  2. Medium Heat: High heat can burn edges before the fat has rendered.
  3. Use the Oven: Baking bacon on a wire rack at 400°F (200°C) gives even crispiness without excessive charring.
  4. Don’t Overcrowd: Bacon needs space for heat to circulate; overlapping strips cook unevenly.

Personal Preference Rules

Ultimately, whether bacon is “crispy” or “burnt” is subjective. If your husband prefers lighter, golden strips and you love dark, caramelized edges, you might meet in the middle by cooking bacon slightly less long or trimming edges before serving.

Bacon debates may never end — but that’s part of the fun. At least you both agree it tastes amazing!
