Earlier today, August 30, Johnny’s hockey club, the Columbus Blue Jackets, released a statement on his passing on X. The long statement expresses the team’s deepest sorrow and disbelief at the tragic news.
Not only was Johnny an exceptional hockey player, but he was also a devoted family man, brother, friend, and spouse, as shown in their statement.Following this, they emphasize how happy Johnny was in every game he played, a feeling shared by everybody who saw the late star’s performances. No matter where Johnny traveled, he brought his A-game and his love of the game.
He played ice hockey for a number of teams, including Boston College, the Calgary Flames, Team USA, and the Columbus Blue Jackets (where he was a winger).According to the Columbus Blue Jackets, “the impact he had on everyone who knew him pales in comparison to the indelible impression he made on our organization and our sport,” which had a tremendous effect on both.
