Instructions
Step 1: Make the Crust
In a large bowl, toss the crushed cookies with melted butter and salt until well coated.
Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish to form an even crust.
Chill in the refrigerator while preparing the filling.
Step 2: Make the Cream Cheese Layer
In a separate mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth and fluffy (about 2 minutes).
Add the powdered sugar and 1½ cups of the whipped topping, and mix until well combined.
Spread this mixture evenly over the chilled crust.
Step 3: Make the Pudding Layer
In another bowl, whisk together the cheesecake pudding mixes, milk, and remaining 1 cup of whipped topping.
The mixture will begin to thicken—this is expected.
Spread evenly over the cream cheese layer.
Step 4: Add the Cherry Topping
Spoon the cherry pie filling over the pudding layer.
Gently spread the remaining whipped topping over the top. Try not to mix it into the cherries.
Step 5: Chill and Serve
Chill the entire dessert in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours (longer if possible) until fully set.
Before serving, sprinkle with chopped walnuts.
Slice and serve!
Tips
For best results, allow this dessert to set in the fridge or freezer to firm up the layers.
You can substitute graham crackers or chocolate sandwich cookies for the crust.
