Instructions
Step 1: Make the Dough
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add water while stirring to form a soft dough. You may need slightly more or less water — stop when the dough is soft but not sticky.
Add 1 tablespoon of oil or melted butter and knead briefly to combine.
Step 2: Shape the Bread
Shape the dough into a smooth ball. Let it rest for 5–10 minutes (optional but helps make the bread fluffier).
Step 3: Cook on the Stovetop
Heat a non-stick skillet or cast-iron pan over low to medium-low heat. Lightly grease it with butter or oil.
Place the dough ball into the skillet. Flatten slightly with your hand or a spatula to about 1-inch thick.
Cover the skillet with a lid. Cook for 8–10 minutes on one side, until golden and puffed.
Flip carefully, cover again, and cook another 6–8 minutes until the bread is cooked through and golden on both sides.
Step 4: Serve & Enjoy
Brush the hot bread with butter for shine and flavor.
Slice and serve warm — perfect with soups, eggs, jam, or as a quick side bread!
Tips & Variations
Add herbs or cheese to the dough for a savory version.
Use whole wheat flour for a healthier twist.
Adjust cooking time based on your skillet and stove — cook low and slow for best results.
