Emergency responders were dispatched quickly, and both Brian and Erica were transported to a nearby hospital, but they were pronounced dead shortly afterward.
On the day of the tragedy, the water conditions were particularly dangerous, with red flags warning swimmers of hazardous rip currents. According to Cory Pippen from Martin County Fire Rescue, the red flags serve as a crucial warning to beachgoers about potential dangers, such as strong rip currents.
