Steps
In a large pan, sauté the chopped peppers and onion in oil over medium-high heat until tender. Remove from the pan and set aside.
Brown the ground beef in the same pan, seasoning with salt and pepper. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
Return the cooked beef to the pan along with the sautéed peppers and onion. Add cream cheese, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, water, salt, and pepper. Stir thoroughly and heat over medium heat until thickened and bubbling.
Turn off the heat, sprinkle shredded cheese over the mixture, and stir until the cheese is melted and evenly incorporated. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.
Serve the cheesesteak mixture on toasted hamburger buns. Optionally, top with additional shredded cheese.
