Police Called Multiple Times to Virginia Property Linked to Letitia James Amid Legal Troubles: Report

Virginia law enforcement has been repeatedly dispatched to homes owned by indicted New York Attorney General Letitia James, according to a report by the New York Post.

The two properties, both located in Virginia, have collectively seen roughly two dozen police visits in recent years, highlighting ongoing local concerns tied to the residences.

One of the homes, purchased by James in August 2020, is at the center of the bank fraud case she currently faces. The indictment alleges that James misrepresented the intended use of the property to secure a lower interest rate on her mortgage.

The residence is currently occupied by Nakia Thompson, 36, who resides there full-time. Police records indicate that officers have been called to the home for various incidents, although the details of each visit have not been fully disclosed publicly.

The repeated law enforcement activity at the property adds another layer of scrutiny as James navigates the legal challenges stemming from federal and state investigations into her financial dealings.

The case continues to attract attention due to James’ prominent role as New York’s top legal officer and the unusual circumstances surrounding her Virginia holdings. Authorities have not commented further on the nature of the police calls, citing ongoing investigations.

The situation underscores the broader scrutiny facing public officials under legal investigation, particularly when personal property and financial transactions are involved.

Police have been called to the Virginia residence on multiple occasions, totaling roughly a dozen visits, with some days seeing more than one dispatch. These calls ranged from serving warrants and subpoenas to responding to reports of vandalism, domestic disturbances, and “suspicious persons.”

Records indicate that officers were summoned to the property three times in 2020, once each in 2021, 2022, and 2023, and six times in early October.

Nakia Thompson, the home’s current occupant, is wanted by authorities in Forsyth County, North Carolina, for failing to complete her probation on charges including malicious conduct by a prisoner, assault of a government official, and resisting a public officer.

Additionally, Thompson faces Virginia charges for possession of burglary tools, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and grand larceny.

Thompson was first charged in 2019 with larceny in connection to the theft of more than $2,000 in merchandise from retail stores in Chesapeake, Virginia. In 2020, she received a two-year probation sentence and was ordered to pay $2,020 in fees to satisfy the charges.

Last month, she faced additional charges for using profane, threatening, or indecent language over public airways, following allegations that she threatened to punch the assistant principal of her child’s school.

Meanwhile, New York Attorney General Letitia James is facing a criminal referral linked to a house she purchased in 2023. The property is currently inhabited by 21-year-old OnlyFans model Cayla Thompson-Hairston, along with her mother, Shamice Thompson-Hairston, and her sister, Courtney.

The house has seen 10 police visits between April 2024 and April 2025, including instances involving the service of warrants and a subpoena, as well as reports of an assault and a domestic dispute.

Nine of these visits occurred within a six-month period, from April 2024 to October 2024.

In April 2024, Cayla Thompson-Hairston was charged with lying about her criminal record while attempting to purchase a firearm. She had been prohibited from owning a gun due to a felony conviction in August 2020 for malicious wounding. Her legal record also includes a 2024 grand larceny charge related to the theft of over $1,600 in merchandise from a Walmart in Norfolk, Virginia, and a 2019 shoplifting arrest.
