Instructions
Preheat & Prepare
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Grease a baking dish with butter or oil.
Sauté the Veggies
Heat 1 tbsp butter/oil in a pan.
Sauté the onion until soft, then add garlic & cabbage.
Cook for 5-7 minutes, seasoning with salt, pepper, and paprika.
Layer the Casserole
Spread half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish.
Add the sautéed cabbage mixture on top.
Layer the rest of the potatoes over it.
Casserole
Prepare the Creamy Mixture
In a bowl, whisk eggs, cream (or milk), and oregano.
Pour evenly over the casserole.
Add the Cheese & Bake
Sprinkle the top with grated cheese.
Add breadcrumbs for an extra crispy topping (optional).
Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until golden brown.
Tips & Variations
Add cooked bacon or ground beef for extra protein.
Swap cheddar for feta for a tangy twist.
Use sweet potatoes for a slightly sweeter version.
Make it vegan: Replace eggs with plant-based milk & use dairy-free cheese.
