Savannah Guthrie Apologizes to Family in Emotional Interview Amid Mother’s Disappearance
Savannah Guthrie opened up for the first time since her mother, Nancy Guthrie, went missing, expressing deep emotion and apologizing to her family over the possibility that her public profile may have played a role.
Speaking with Hoda Kotb, Savannah recounted learning of the situation when her sister, Annie, called to say their mother had disappeared. Her brother, a former military fighter pilot and intelligence officer, immediately feared the worst, suggesting Nancy could have been kidnapped for ransom.
Savannah described her shock and grief, saying, “I said, ‘Do you think because of me?’ And he said, ‘I’m sorry, sweetie, but yeah, maybe.’” She added, “It’s too much to bear to think that I brought this to her bedside. That it’s because of me.”
She directly apologized to her mother and family: “If it is me, I’m so sorry.”
Nancy Guthrie was last seen on January 31 after spending time with Annie and her husband, Tommaso Cioni. Local authorities and the FBI are actively investigating the disappearance, reviewing doorbell camera footage and following various leads, including alleged ransom notes, but no concrete answers have emerged so far.
Savannah continues to plead for information and support as her family awaits news on Nancy’s whereabouts.
