These golden-brown pockets are a crowd-pleaser. The combination of savory meat, aromatic spices, and gooey cheese wrapped in buttery, crisp pastry is simply irresistible.

Ingredients
For the Filling:

1 tbsp olive oil

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 lb (450g) minced meat (beef, lamb, or a mix work best)

1 tsp paprika

1/2 tsp ground cumin

1/4 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)

2 tbsp tomato paste

1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

For Assembly:

1 package (approx. 17.3 oz or 490g) frozen puff pastry sheets (2 sheets), thawed according to package instructions

1 cup (about 100g) shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a Mexican blend are great)

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

1 tbsp sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional)
