Instructions
1. Prepare the Filling:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, gravy, cheese (if using), parsley, and onion powder. Gently fold everything together until well combined. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper to taste.
2. Preheat and Prep:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
3. Assemble the Ring:
Unroll the crescent dough sheets and separate the triangles. On the prepared baking sheet, arrange the triangles in a sunburst pattern, with the wide bases overlapping in the center to form a 6-inch circle and the pointed ends facing outward.
4. Add the Filling:
Spoon the turkey and cranberry mixture evenly over the wide base of the dough circle, forming a ring.
5. Create the Braided Look:
Carefully lift each pointed dough triangle over the filling and tuck the tip under the inner base of the ring. Repeat this process all the way around until the filling is enclosed, and the ring has a beautiful braided appearance.
6. Bake to Golden Perfection:
Brush the entire surface of the dough with the beaten egg and sprinkle with your chosen garnish. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the crescent ring is puffed and deep golden brown.
7. Cool and Serve:
Allow the ring to rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with extra gravy on the side for dipping.
Chef’s Notes & Variations
Add a Creamy Twist: Stir 2 ounces of softened cream cheese into the filling mixture for an extra rich and creamy texture.
Add a Crunch: For a nutty flavor and crunch, add ¼ cup of chopped toasted pecans or walnuts to the filling.
Make it a Chicken Ring: This recipe works perfectly with leftover rotisserie or cooked chicken instead of turkey.
Fresh Herb Boost: Substitute the parsley with other fresh herbs like sage, thyme, or rosemary for a more aromatic flavor.
Storage: Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer to maintain crispiness.
