Instructions:
Prepare the sharpening surface: Place the sharpening stone on a stable surface and make sure it does not move during use. If using a honing rod, hold it securely in one hand.
Apply WD-40: Spray a small amount of WD-40 directly onto the whetstone or honing rod. Alternatively, you can spray WD-40 onto the knife blade itself.
Grinding motion: Hold the knife against the whetstone or honing rod at a consistent angle (usually about 20 degrees). Using light pressure, move the blade across the surface in a sweeping motion, starting at the base of the blade and working toward the tip. Repeat this motion several times on each side of the blade.
Test the sharpness: After sharpening, gently wipe the blade clean with a cloth or paper towel to remove any WD-40 residue. Test the sharpness of the knife by carefully cutting through a piece of paper or a soft fruit. If the blade cuts smoothly and with minimal resistance, it is ready for use.
