HE STARTS TO VOMIT
Before he watched, two small white maggots casually moved among the corn kernels, tuna, and tomato. “I had to swallow them,” lamented the disgusted Toulouse resident, who shared a video on social media. He added: “My very first reaction was to vomit. I vomited what I had eaten from the can.”
ALDI IS NOTIFIED
He and his colleague immediately interrupted their meal and rushed to Aldi to report the incident. “They wanted to refund me, but that’s not the problem. It seems no one knows if it was just in my box or in others. It’s worrying,” he confided.
A WORRIED MAN
Barely out of Aldi, Julien, panicking, immediately called emergency services. “I was afraid I was sick, I needed explanations on what to do. I remembered the recent botulism cases, it’s panicky,” he shared. As a reminder, five people were in intensive care in Tours last month, suspected of having contracted botulism after eating wild garlic pesto from the Ô Ptits Oignons brand.
AN INVESTIGATION IS UNDERWAY
This artisanal product, sold at several events in 2024, is now sought throughout France. Authorities are calling for the destruction of any jars in circulation, while a judicial and health investigation is underway to confirm the source of the contamination, as our colleagues at Le Monde have pointed out.
