Stuffed Basbousa with Cream – A Middle Eastern Delight
This Stuffed Basbousa with Cream is an indulgent twist on the classic semolina cake. With two layers of soft basbousa, a creamy filling made of milk, yogurt, and cheese, and a refreshing orange syrup, it’s the perfect dessert to impress your guests or enjoy with coffee.

Ingredients

First Layer:

  • eggs

  • ½ cup vegetable oil

  • ½ cup sugar

  • 1 cup fine semolina

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1 plain unsweetened yogurt

Cream Filling:

  • ½ liter milk

  • 3 tbsp cornstarch

  • Sugar to taste

  • 1 plain yogurt

  • cream cheese triangles or 2 tbsp spreadable cheese

Third Layer:

  • Same as the first layer

For Decoration & Syrup:

  • Toasted crushed almonds or nuts of your choice

  • 2 tbsp sugar (for topping)

  • 1 large cup orange juice

  • 2 tbsp sugar (for syrup)
