The classic bars of soap that you find in supermarkets were, until recently, the primary option for handwashing laundry. Over time, with the advent of new technologies like washing machines, their use has decreased, but they haven’t completely disappeared.
Some people still prefer to use bars of soap today, especially Marseille soap, as it’s more effective at treating localized stains. In this article, we’ll explain how to transform a bar of soap into 3 liters of liquid detergent.
Liquid detergent is recommended not only to protect your hands but also to avoid leaving residues on your laundry. Additionally, it’s more convenient and versatile for use with washing machines. Its one drawback is the cost, which can be quite high at times.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1 bar of Marseille soap
- 120 ml of white vinegar
- 1 tablespoon of baking soda
- 3 liters of water A kitchen grater A clean bucket
Procedure:
- Grate the Marseille soap bar into the bucket.
- Pour one liter of water over the grated soap until it’s completely covered, and let it sit overnight.
- The next day, transfer the contents of the bucket into a pan, add the other 2 liters of water, and mix everything with a wooden spoon. Then, add 120 ml of white vinegar and 1 tablespoon of baking soda.
- Once it starts to boil, turn off the stove and wait for 10 minutes.
- Let the mixture cool for 20-30 minutes, then pour it into your final container.
- Use this liquid detergent in the same way as commercial detergent. You’ll notice that your laundry comes out cleaner and more fragrant.
