Cutting boards that are always spotless
Cutting boards are often real breeding grounds for bacteria, especially when they are made of wood. Rather than using chemicals, try a salt scrub, which is both natural and effective.
For wooden boards:
Sprinkle your board with salt, then rub it with half a lemon. The acidity of the lemon combined with the abrasive action of the salt helps to disinfect and deodorize the board without using harmful products.
For plastic boards:
Mix salt with a little white vinegar, then rub with a sponge or small brush. This helps to disinfect and eliminate persistent odors.
Remove stubborn stains on your textiles
Salt is also an excellent ally for combating certain difficult stains, including red wine, grass or grease. Before you get out your expensive stain removers, think about salt!
Red Wine Stains:
Immediately sprinkle salt on the stain to absorb the liquid. Once dry, vacuum up the salt or rinse the stain with cold water.
Grass Stains:
Mix salt with lemon juice and gently rub the stain. Let it sit for a few minutes before washing the garment in the washing machine.
Bonus: Add half a cup of salt to your washing machine to brighten your whites and prevent them from yellowing.
A Natural Exfoliator for Soft Skin
No need to spend a fortune on beauty products. Salt, combined with olive oil, makes a great homemade exfoliator that will leave your skin soft and hydrated.
Quick Recipe:
Mix ¼ cup of salt with ½ cup of olive oil. Gently massage onto your face or body, then rinse with warm water.
Result: Smooth, nourished, glowing skin — without chemicals!
