Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta:
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Sauce:
In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour to make a roux and cook for 1–2 minutes. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Add Dijon mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until thickened, about 3–5 minutes.

In a large bowl, mix cooked pasta, Swedish meatballs, and creamy sauce until evenly coated.
  4. Assemble the Bake:
Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese evenly on top.
  5. Bake:
Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes, then remove foil and bake an additional 10–15 minutes, or until cheese is melted and golden.
  6. Serve:
Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm for a hearty, comforting meal.

Serving Suggestions

  • Adjust cheese: For an extra cheesy bake, add more mozzarella or Parmesan.
  • Make ahead: Assemble the casserole a day before and bake when ready to serve.
  • Spice it up: Add a pinch of nutmeg to the sauce for a subtle, authentic Swedish flavor.
