Ingredients:
Ingredient Quantity
Maple Syrup 1/2 cup
Corn Syrup 1/4 cup
Water 1/4 cup
Granulated Sugar 1/4 cup
Fresh Ginger (peeled, chopped) 1/4 cup
Ground Ginger 1/4 teaspoon
Fine Salt 1/4 teaspoon
Roasted Walnuts (chopped) 1 cup
Vanilla Extract 1 teaspoon
Lemon Juice 1/2 teaspoon
Instructions:
Prepare the Syrup Base (5 minutes):
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the maple syrup, corn syrup, water, granulated sugar, chopped fresh ginger, ground ginger, and salt.
Simmer and Thicken (10-12 minutes):
Stir the mixture occasionally and bring it to a boil. Then, reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for about 10-12 minutes. The syrup will thicken slightly as it reduces.
Add Walnuts and Simmer (2-3 minutes):
Stir in the chopped roasted walnuts and simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
Flavor and Cool (2 minutes):
Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the vanilla extract and lemon juice for an extra layer of complexity.
Let the Wet Walnut Ice Cream Sauce cool slightly before serving.
Serve and Enjoy!
This sauce can be served warm or at room temperature over ice cream, sundaes, pancakes, waffles, or any dessert that needs a touch of sweetness and crunch.
