Tips for Cleaning Floors with Vinegar
If you want your floors to be thoroughly cleaned with vinegar, you need to know how much vinegar to use and how to apply it properly for each type of flooring. A variety of surfaces can be treated with vinegar, as outlined in this guide:
First, make sure to dilute the vinegar appropriately for hardwood floors so there isn’t too much moisture. Gather 1 gallon of warm water and 1/4 cup of white vinegar in a bucket. Rinse a microfiber mop or soft cloth with the solution and wring it out until it’s almost damp. Gently mop the floor, being careful not to oversoak the wood as this can damage the finish. You can clean your hardwood floors without leaving any streaks by using vinegar.
Second, tile floors are prone to dirt and stain buildup, especially in high-traffic areas like kitchens and bathrooms. This dirt can be easily removed with vinegar. Before cleaning your tile, mix one cup of vinegar with one gallon of warm water. There will be no soap residue left after using the vinegar solution to clean and polish your tiles.
Third, dilute the vinegar and use it as a gentle cleaner for laminate floors; these floors are sensitive and easily damaged. Mix one gallon of water and one-third cup of vinegar for laminate. If you want to clean the floor without soaking it, use a soft mop. Never let the water sit on the floor for too long; instead, dry it thoroughly with a towel or let it air dry.
Fourth, vinyl flooring is very resistant to vinegar. Clean vinyl flooring well after combining one cup of vinegar with one gallon of warm water for a glossy finish. Without damaging the material, this solution will remove scuff marks, dirt, and oil, leaving floors clean and shiny.
