Instructions:
Activate the Yeast: Dissolve the sugar in warm water. Add the yeast to the mixture and let it proof for about 5-10 minutes, until it becomes frothy.
Mix Wet Ingredients: Once the yeast has proofed, stir in the vegetable oil.
Prepare Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, combine the flour and salt.
Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, one cup at a time. Stir or mix until a soft dough forms.
Knead the Dough: Knead the dough for about 3-5 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
First Rise: Place the dough in an oiled bowl, turning it over to coat both sides with oil. Cover and let it rise for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
Shape the Loaves: After the dough has risen, punch it down and shape it into two loaves. Place them in greased bread pans and let them rise for 30-40 minutes.
Bake the Bread: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the loaves for approximately 30 minutes, or until golden brown.
Finishing Touch: Brush the tops with butter while the bread is still warm for a soft, flavorful finish.
