This morning, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado — not Donald Trump.
The Nobel Committee stated:
“When authoritarians seize power, it is crucial to recognize courageous defenders of freedom who rise and resist … those who refuse silence, who dare to step forward despite grave risk, and who remind us that freedom must always be defended.”
Exactly. A would-be dictator who prosecutes his opponents, sends troops into U.S. cities, and tramples democratic norms should never be anywhere near that honor.
