Ingredients:
1 tablespoon of dish soap (mild)
2 cups of warm water
1 teaspoon of peppermint oil (optional)
1 spray bottle
Instructions:
Prepare the Solution: Start by mixing 2 cups of warm water with 1 tablespoon of mild dish soap. Stir the mixture gently until the soap dissolves completely.
Optional Addition: If you want to enhance the repellent effect, add 1 teaspoon of peppermint oil to the solution. This not only helps to keep ants at bay but also gives your garden a pleasant, refreshing scent.
Fill the Spray Bottle: Pour the mixture into a spray bottle for easy application.
Spray the Ant Trails: Identify where the ants are actively moving or building their nests. Directly spray the solution onto the ant trails and nests. You’ll notice the ants begin to scatter almost immediately—often within 10 seconds.
Observe the Results: After spraying, you should see that the ants quickly vacate the area. The soap coats the ants, disrupting their ability to communicate and find their way back to the nest.
Serving and Storage Tips:
Reapplication: For ongoing control, reapply the solution every few days, especially after rain or watering.
Storage: Store any leftover mixture in the spray bottle, sealed, in a cool, dark place. Make sure it’s clearly labeled, so you know it’s for ant control.
