Things You Need To Keep Away From Your Dryer
While doing laundry can feel like a chore, taking extra care with certain items will save you energy and avoid the frustration of ruined clothes. Here’s a list of 10 items you should keep out of the dryer:
1. Leather & Suede
This applies to both real and faux leather.
Even if your leather piece gets drenched in a heavy downpour, avoid tossing it in the dryer. The heat can cause irreparable damage. To extend the life of your leather, hang it to dry in the shade instead.
2. Fur
Whether it’s natural or faux fur, the dryer should be avoided.
The heat can make natural fur fall out, and for faux fur, it can melt or tangle the fibers. Hang it to dry away from direct sunlight and comb through the strands before drying.
3. Sweaters
Sweaters are prone to losing their shape if washed or dried incorrectly.
The heat from the dryer can shrink or stretch both natural and synthetic fibers. Once a synthetic sweater loses its shape, it’s nearly impossible to restore. For natural fibers, you might be able to salvage it, but it’s a tricky process.
4. Wool Clothes
Wool, like other natural fibers, is sensitive to heat and can shrink in the dryer.
While it’s possible to try to reshape wool clothes, it requires considerable effort and may not return them to their original form.
