Baked Blooming Onions
Ingredients:
Ingredient Quantity
Large sweet onion 1
All-purpose flour 1/2 cup
Breadcrumbs 1/2 cup
Paprika 1 tsp
Garlic powder 1/2 tsp
Onion powder 1/2 tsp
Dried oregano 1/2 tsp
Salt 1/2 tsp
Black pepper 1/4 tsp
Eggs 2 large
Milk 2 tbsp
Olive oil spray As needed
Dipping sauce Your choice
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Cut off the top of the onion and peel outer layer. Make vertical cuts from 1/2 inch from root to create petals.
Gently separate petals without breaking them.
Combine flour, breadcrumbs, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
Whisk eggs and milk in another bowl.
Dredge onion in egg mixture, then in flour mixture.
Spray onion with olive oil.
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until crispy and tender.
Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
