4 boneless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
1/2 cup cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup chicken broth
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup rice vinegar
2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 teaspoons minced garlic
1 teaspoon minced ginger
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Green onions, sliced (optional for garnish)
Sesame seeds (optional for garnish)
Instructions:
1. In a large bowl, mix together chicken, cornstarch, salt, and pepper.
2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chicken and cook until browned, about 3-5 minutes.
3. Transfer chicken to a slow cooker.
4. In a separate bowl, mix together chicken broth, soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
5. Pour the sauce over the chicken in the slow cooker.
6. Cook on low heat for 4 hours, or on high heat for 2 hours.
7. Serve over rice and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds, if desired.
