Ingredients:
8 medium-sized beets
1 cup vinegar
1/2 cup sugar
1.5 teaspoons whole allspice
1.5 teaspoons whole cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
1. Begin by thoroughly washing and peeling the fresh beets.
2. Boil beets until tender (around 30 minutes or so). Cool, peel, and slice into desired shapes.
3. In a saucepan, boil vinegar, sugar, cloves, allspice, and salt for 5 minutes.
4. Pour the hot mixture over sliced beets.
