Ms. Carter greeted us with a nod, acknowledging the progress we’d made. “I see you’ve been busy,” she remarked, gesturing to the updated account on her screen.
“We’re trying,” I replied with a small smile, feeling a sense of accomplishment despite the uphill battle.
My spouse squeezed my hand, a silent thank you for standing by their side during this ordeal. We left the office with a clearer path forward, knowing that the journey wasn’t over but feeling more equipped to handle whatever came next.
In the car, my spouse turned to me, their expression earnest. “Thank you for pushing through,” they said. “I couldn’t have done this alone.”
“Neither could I,” I responded, realizing that despite the initial pain of being left out, we had emerged stronger together.
