When I Went To The Office For A Routine Check, I Didn’t Expect To See My Name On The Screen

After the meeting, I returned to my desk, the email still fresh in my mind. I decided to do some digging of my own, starting with a call to the design team. The phone rang once, twice, before a familiar voice answered.

“Hey, it’s me,” I said, keeping my tone light. “I had a quick question about the card design.” There was a pause, the kind that stretches longer than it should.

“Sure, what do you need to know?” came the reply, cautious and careful.

“I noticed my name was on the latest draft,” I said, trying to sound casual. “Just curious how that happened.”

“Oh, that,” the voice on the other end said, a hint of relief seeping in. “We were trying out new layouts, and your name was just a placeholder. It should have been changed before it went out, but it slipped through the cracks.”

“Thanks,” I said, hanging up, my curiosity far from satisfied. There had to be a reason why my name was used, and I intended to find out.
