You Wont Believe Why Jeans Have That Tiny Pocket
Have you ever wondered about the tiny pocket inside your jeans? It’s too small for your phone or keys, so why is it there? This pocket actually has a long history, dating back to the 1800s, and was originally created for a very specific purpose.
It’s called the “watch pocket” and was added by Levi Strauss & Co. when jeans were first made as workwear for miners, laborers, and cowboys. Back then, pocket watches were common, but they were at risk of falling out or getting damaged during work, especially for cowboys riding on horseback.
To solve this, Levi Strauss added the small pocket to jeans to securely hold pocket watches. This kept the watches safe from bumps and scratches.
