The aroma of freshly cleaned carpets and lemon-scented windows filled the air, complemented by an upbeat pop playlist that set a welcoming ambiance.

The fridge was stocked with a variety of beverages, including sodas, wine, and craft beer. As the clock neared 3:00 PM, guests began to arrive. Nathan’s parents, Maria and James, brought their signature cheesy lasagna, praising the decorations and the inviting atmosphere. Friends filled the space with laughter and conversation, their contributions of wine and desserts adding to the festive spirit.
Amid the growing excitement, the doorbell rang unexpectedly. A delivery person stood at the door, holding a large rectangular box adorned with a bright sticker. Puzzled, I accepted the package and brought it inside. Curiosity piqued, I opened the box to reveal an elaborate cake, far more extravagant than the one I had ordered.
