It’s a great way to feed a crowd and a perfect dish to bring to a potluck. It freezes well. It reheats well. Leftovers will keep you happy for days.
Simply Recipes reader Alton Hoover sent me his favorite recipe for lasagna which he has been cooking since his college days. Alton’s original recipe created enough lasagna for a small army so I halved it. What is posted here will easily serve eight people.
How to Make Lasagna !!
For this recipe, we are essentially making a thick, meaty tomato sauce and layering that with noodles and cheese into a casserole. Here’s the run-down:
ingredients:
1 and 1/2 cups of mashed potatoes
1 box of cream (200g)
Salt, pepper and grated nutmeg to taste
1 package of pre-cooked lasagna pasta (500g)
1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
4 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
Dip:
3 tablespoons oil or olive oil
500g ground beef
1 onion in cubes
2 minced garlic cloves
1/2 cup tomato extract
4 ripe tomatoes without skin and without seeds in cubes
1 and 1/2 cup of water
Salt and black pepper to taste
1 bay leaf
chopped fresh basil to taste
