The blue veins that are often seen on our hands are a system of superficial veins located under the skin of the hand. When impacted by something, the blue veins will appear clearly. Though this may be a completely normal condition, in many cases, blue veins on the hands are a sign of some diseases.

Many cases of blue veins appearing on the hands are often worried and scared. Yet, they can come from natural impacts and do not affect too much, specifically like this:
Pale skin color also causes blue veins: White skin, thin skin are both reasons why you have blue veins but I do not. From clear comparisons, it can be seen that people with dark skin do not have blue veins as clearly as people with white skin. In other cases, blue veins are more prominent when the layer of fat under the skin of the hand is thinner. Those with this condition are often elderly.
Being too thin also leads to explain this condition. The layer of fat under the skin is too thin, making it impossible to cover the blue veins, making the skin more visible and numerous.
Athletes or those who do heavy labor often have hands with more blue veins than others, as they often have to work hard. As the blood vessels are active, the muscles swell, and the veins in the skin will appear. However, they will gradually subside when the activity stops.
Pregnant women also often experience blue veins on their hands, since the venous system under the skin has to work harder than usual.
