Renting a room at a motel or hotel for an overnight stay during trips, vacations, or work has become quite common. One key thing to remember when you’re in new places is safety.
So, why should you toss a bottle of water under the bed right after you check into a hotel? It’s smart to do a careful check to prevent any unwanted surprises. Typically, guests look over the room, bathroom, and toilet to ensure they have everything they need and to check for strange devices like hidden cameras. However, not everyone thinks about looking under the bed, which can pose a risk.
Esther, an experienced flight attendant from KLM airline in Holland, says that every time she checks into a hotel, she throws a bottle of water under the bed just to be safe. This helps her find out if someone is hiding there or if something seems off.
When you check into your motel or hotel room, try tossing that water bottle under the bed! Throw it firmly from one side of the bed. If there are people or objects underneath, the bottle won’t roll out easily. In that case, you can either look yourself or ask hotel staff to help you check it out together.
If nothing is blocking underneath, the water bottle will roll freely from one side to another! This way, you’ll feel more relaxed about the safety of your room.
