Instructions:

  1. Gather the Ingredients:
    • Begin by preparing the dough. Melt 80 grams of butter with 100 milliliters each of milk and water in a saucepan. Add 1/4 teaspoon salt.
  2. Cook the Dough:
    • Heat the mixture until it begins to boil.
    • Once boiling, add 150 grams of flour and 1 teaspoon of baking powder, stirring constantly until a smooth dough forms and pulls away from the edges of the saucepan.
    • Allow the dough to cool slightly.
  3. Mix in the Eggs:
    • Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F).
    • Add the eggs to the dough one at a time, mixing well after each addition to create a smooth consistency.
  4. Bake the Layers:
    • Line a 25 cm baking pan with parchment paper.
    • Spread half of the dough evenly into the pan.
    • Bake in a preheated static oven for 20 minutes, keeping the oven door closed.
    • Repeat with the remaining dough to create a second layer.
  5. Prepare the Cream:
    • In a bowl, whisk together two eggs, 150 grams of sugar, and 100 grams of flour.
    • In a saucepan, bring 500 milliliters of milk to a boil.
    • Slowly pour the egg mixture into the boiling milk, whisking continuously to prevent lumps. Cook for about three minutes until thickened, then remove from heat and allow it to cool.
  6. Whip the Butter:
    • In a bowl, whip 180 grams of butter until light and fluffy.
    • Gradually mix the cooled cream into the butter until fully combined. Add vanilla extract if desired.
  7. Assemble the Cake:
    • Place one layer of baked dough on a serving plate, spread the cream evenly over it, and top with the second layer of dough.
  8. Chill and Serve:
    • Refrigerate the cake for at least two hours to allow the flavors to meld.
    • Before serving, dust with powdered sugar and add sprinkles if desired.
