These bars are packed with crunchy nuts and condensed milk, and they’re perfect for a snack or a quick breakfast. Plus, they’re easy to make and can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
I first discovered these bars when I was visiting my grandparents in the countryside. They had a squirrel family living in their backyard, and I was so excited to see them! I asked my grandmother if there was a way to make something special for them, and she suggested these bars. I was so happy to be able to give something back to the squirrels, and they seemed to love them!
Chewy Nutty Squirrel Bars
Ingredients:
⅓ cup cocoa powder
1¼ cup flour
1 cup of powdered sugar
4 tablespoons of heavy cream
½ cup chopped nuts (e.g., walnuts, pecans, or a mix of nuts)
1 cup of caramel or butterscotch baking ships
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon of salt
2 sticks unsalted butter, at room temperature (reserve 2 tablespoons of butter)
